Pegamento De Enxertos De Tomateiro Em Diferentes Solanáceas
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)This paper aimed to assess tomato grafting on different solanaceous species through two grafting methods. Scions were cut from cultivar Santa Cruz Kada seedlings. A fully randomized experimental design was carried out with treatments in a 9 x 2 factorial scheme. As rootstocks, four accessions of mini-tomatoes (0224-53, RVTC 57, RVTC 20 and 6889-50 Solanum lycopersicum L); two species of wild tomato (Solanum habrochaites var hirsutum ‘PI-127826’ and Solanum pennellii ‘LA716’); other two tomato species [Solanum, cocona (Solanum sessiliflorum) and physalis (Physalis peruviana)] and a control with cultivar Santa Cruz Kada (auto-graft) rootstocks were used. In addition, two grafting methods were evaluated full cleft and approach graft. Fifteen days after grafting, plants were assessed for graft-take percentage; root length; plant height; leaf number; foliar area; root, stem and leaf dry matter; and ratio between shoot and root dry matter. Based on the results, we may state rootstock and grafting interaction had effect on both graft-take rate and plant development. Overall, the studied plants should be recommended as rootstock, except for 6889-50 mini-tomato (S. lycopersicum L.) and S. pennellii. Full cleft grafting was most suitable for cocona and physalis, while the approach method showed better results for the mini-tomato accessions 0224-53, RVTC 57 and RVTC 20, as well as for S. habrochaites. © 2016, Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Arid. A fly in the buttermilk: Descriptions of university life by successful Black undergraduate students at a predominately white southeastern university
Although many predominantly white universities exert great effort to recruit minority students, statistics regarding retention and graduation for these students are disturbing. Previous research indicates that academic concerns are not paramount in the attrition of minority students, suggesting that greater attention must be given educational experiences of black students over and above academic matters. Using in-depth phenomenological interviewing, 11 graduating seniors from diverse majors were asked to describe salient incidents of their university experience. These interviews were transcribed verbatim and subjected to hermeneutic interpretation by an interdisciplinary research group. Dominant in student descriptions of their experiences were five themes: (1) It happens every day : Unfairness/Sabotage/Condescension; (2) You have to initiate the conversation ; (3) They seem the same; I\u27m the one who\u27s different ; (4) I have to prove I\u27m worthy to be here ; and (5) Sometimes I\u27m not even here/Sometimes I have to represent every black student : Invisibility and Supervisibility
INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT ASSEMBLIES ON PRE-HEATING THE HSLA SAR 80T STEEL ON COATED ELECTRODE WELDING
The present work evaluated the influence of assemblies other than preheating in the welding process obtained by coated electrode, using high strength and low alloy steel SAR 80T as the base metal and the AWS E7018 electrode as the addition metal. In order to prevent cracks, preheating and interpassing for low alloy steel was performed. Depending on the way the preheating equipment is installed, it may take more or less time to reach the preheat temperature. Different assembly arrangements for top joints were evaluated, aiming at cost reduction, in addition to evaluations of the mechanical properties of the joint. Visual testing, ultrasound, micrography, macrography and cross-sectional traction were performed. The results obtained were considered acceptable and showed that there was an influence on time, cost of preheating and resistance to impact
Challenges in the rabbit haemorrhagic disease 2 (RHDV2) molecular diagnosis of vaccinated rabbits
Molecular methods are fundamental tools for the diagnosis of viral infections. While interpretation of
results is straightforward for unvaccinated animals, where positivity represents ongoing or past
infections, the presence of vaccine virus in the tissues of recently vaccinated animals may mislead
diagnosis.
In this study, we investigated the interference of RHDV2 vaccination in the results of a RT-qPCR for
RHDV2 detection, and possible associations between mean Cq values of
five animal groups differing in
age, vaccination status and origin (domestic/wild).
Viral sequences from vaccinated rabbits that died of RHDV2 infection (n = 14) were compared with the
sequences from the commercial vaccines used in those animals. Group Cq means were compared through
Independent t-test and One-way ANOVA.
We proved that RHDV2 vaccine-RNA is not detected by the RT-qPCR as early as 15 days post-
vaccination, an important fact in assisting results interpretation for diagnosis.
Cq values of vaccinated and non-vaccinated infected domestic adults showed a statistically significant
difference (p
<
0.05), demonstrating that vaccination-induced immunity reduces viral loads and delays
disease progression. Contrarily, in vaccinated young rabbits higher viral loads were registered compared
to non-vaccinated kittens. No significant variation (p = 0.3824) was observed between viral loads of non-
vaccinated domestic and wild RHDV2-victimised rabbits. Although the reduced number of vaccinated
young animals analysed hampered a robust statistical analysis, this occurrence suggests that passively
acquired maternal antibodies may inhibit the active immune response to vaccination, delaying
protection and favouring disease progression.
Our
finding emphasises the importance of adapting kitten RHDV2 vaccination schedules to circumvent
this interference phenomenon
Destruction of long-range antiferromagnetic order by hole doping
We study the renormalization of the staggered magnetization of a
two-dimensional antiferromagnet as a function of hole doping, in the framework
of the t-J model. It is shown that the motion of holes generates decay of spin
waves into ''particle-hole'' pairs, which causes the destruction of the
long-range magnetic order at a small hole concentration. This effect is mainly
determined by the coherent motion of holes. The value obtained for the critical
hole concentration, of a few percent, is consistent with experimental data for
the doped copper oxide high-Tc superconductors.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure
Multiscale molecular dynamics/hydrodynamics implementation of two dimensional “Mercedes Benz” water model
A multiscale Molecular Dynamics/Hydrodynamics implementation of the 2D Mercedes Benz (MB or BN2D) [1] water model is developed and investigated. The concept and the governing equations of multiscale coupling together with the results of the two-way coupling implementation are reported. The sensitivity of the multiscale model for obtaining macroscopic and microscopic parameters of the system, such as macroscopic density and velocity fluctuations, radial distribution and velocity autocorrelation functions of MB particles, is evaluated. Critical issues for extending the current model to large systems are discussed
SMART: An Application Framework for Real Time Big Data Analysis on Heterogeneous Cloud Environments
International audienceThe amount of data that human activities generate poses a challenge to current computer systems. Big data processing techniques are evolving to address this challenge, with analysis increasingly being performed using cloud-based systems. Emerging services, however, require additional enhancements in order to ensure their applicability to highly dynamic and heterogeneous environments and facilitate their use by Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Observing this landscape in emerging computing system development, this work presents Small & Medium-sized Enterprise Data Analytic in Real Time (SMART) for addressing some of the issues in providing compute service solutions for SMEs. SMART offers a framework for efficient development of Big Data analysis services suitable to small and medium-sized organizations, considering very heterogeneous data sources, from wireless sensor networks to data warehouses, focusing on service composability for a number of domains. This paper presents the basis of this proposal and preliminary results on exploring application deployment on hybrid infrastructure
Dengue is an arbovirus transmitted mainly by the bite of the mosquito Aedes aegypti. It can be asymptomatic or present a wide clinical spectrum, ranging from self-limited febrile illness to severe forms that could evolve with circulatory shock and death. In order to avoid this outcome, early diagnosis of disease and the detection of warning signs that indicate unfavorable, as well as adequate treatment are essential, There is no specific treatment, it is only symptomatic and supportive. Up to now, there is no vaccine available for prevention of disease, vector control the most effective measure.
Static quantities of the W boson in the SU_L(3) X U_X(1) model with right-handed neutrinos
The static electromagnetic properties of the boson, and
, are calculated in the SU_L(3)} \times U_X(1) model with
right-handed neutrinos. The new contributions from this model arise from the
gauge and scalar sectors. In the gauge sector there is a new contribution from
a complex neutral gauge boson and a singly-charged gauge boson .
The mass of these gauge bosons, called bileptons, is expected to be in the
range of a few hundreds of GeV according to the current bounds from
experimental data. If the bilepton masses are of the order of 200 GeV, the size
of their contribution is similar to that obtained in other weakly coupled
theories. However the contributions to both and are
negligible for very heavy or degenerate bileptons. As for the scalar sector, an
scenario is examined in which the contribution to the form factors is
identical to that of a two-Higgs-doublet model. It is found that this sector
would not give large corrections to and .Comment: New material included. Final version to apppear in Physical Review
